Linux Directory Structure

On Windows, programs, data and software that has been installed will be in the directory "Program Files." But on the Linux operating system is not like that. In linux, the directory system will categorize all data files that have been installed.
it will be difficult for us who just use the Linux operating system. But this article I will give a little bit about the directory structure of Linux.

Here is the entire structure along with what is in the Linux operating system:

/Bin - Load a referral program that is part of the Linux operating system. example: cat, cp, ls, more, and tar is located in / bin.

/Boot - contains the Linux kernel and other files needed by LILO and GRUB boot manager.

/Dev - all important files. equipment and hardware such as hard disk flasdisk be in / dev.

/Etc - contains system configuration files and installation scripts in / etc / rc.d subdirectory.

/Home - Home directory is the directory that stores all the files that are managed by the user.

/Lib - this is the directory that contains the library file as the driver module can be loaded on system boot.

/Lost + found - This is the directory for lost files. All disk partition would have lost + found directory by default.

/Media - this is the directory that serves for mounting removable media like CD-ROM, floppy disks and zip drives.

/Mnt - is a directory for mounting a temporary file system.

/ Var/opt - Contains variable directory for packages stored in the directory / opt.

/ Var/run - Contains data directory which describes the system when you first run a linux system.

/ Var/spool - Contains a directory of data waiting to be processed.

/ Var/tmp - Contains temporary files directory, the contents of this directory is not deleted when the system is turned off.
